Santa Fe de Antioquia Film Festival

It was born in 2000, started by a group of film lovers including director Víctor Gaviria, as a thank you to a town that had been a film location for decades. It runs for five days with free open-air screenings in the town's parks, plus workshops and competitions such as the Caja de Pandora short film contest. The 27th edition is scheduled for December 4 to 8, 2026, according to the Film Festival Corporation.

Diablitos festivities

They are held in late December, from the 22nd to the 31st according to Wikipedia, and date back to 1653. Tradition says that enslaved people on the haciendas had one day off a year, December 28, and celebrated it dressed as their masters, with capes, colorful costumes and masks. Over time it grew into a week of parades, music and street parties.

Other dates

In December and Easter week downtown hotels sell out first. See hotels near the main square to walk to screenings and parades, or the full list.

Also check the December weather: it is dry season and very hot during the day.
